Rod used to call himself Rodelda and to this day no one knows why. He has a wide variety of interests and hobbies including history (particularly the civil war), camping, Glee (this is strictly confidential:), astronomy, animals, Frank Sinatra, fishing, and playing video games. He is an avid reader of all genres but particularly enjoys fantasy, science fiction, and historical novels.

On January 28, 2012, while driving a moving truck, Rod's vehicle left the road and fell roughly 100 feet onto the train tracks below. It is a miracle that he survived and we find many more miracles as he continues on his quest toward recovery. He has already undergone multiple surgeries to repair breaks and injuries and will have many more in the weeks to come. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers in Rod, Sara, and Jack's behalf. We truly appreciate them and you!

Date Night!

Yesterday, Rod had to move rooms yet again because of his infection. He was in a double patient room and needed to have his own instead. Although it is somewhat inconvenient for him to move, he does like his new room better because his window view improved from a wall to the parking lot! For his second day of solid meals, Rod chose pizza but it took him so long to chew each bite that after 2-3 bites, it was cold and no longer tasted good.

He did receive news that his respiratory infection is active and contagious and the doctors are saying that it may take around 6 months to treat it. We're hoping the antibiotics are quicker than that because Rod is missing little Jack.

Otherwise, Rod is feeling much better and getting more independent. He and Sara were even able to have a "date night" this evening.

  1. I thought Rod's jaw was wired. Is it off so he can eat now? My kids pray for Rod at every meal... our thoughts are with you and Sara and baby Jack. Keep up the fight!
