Rod used to call himself Rodelda and to this day no one knows why. He has a wide variety of interests and hobbies including history (particularly the civil war), camping, Glee (this is strictly confidential:), astronomy, animals, Frank Sinatra, fishing, and playing video games. He is an avid reader of all genres but particularly enjoys fantasy, science fiction, and historical novels.

On January 28, 2012, while driving a moving truck, Rod's vehicle left the road and fell roughly 100 feet onto the train tracks below. It is a miracle that he survived and we find many more miracles as he continues on his quest toward recovery. He has already undergone multiple surgeries to repair breaks and injuries and will have many more in the weeks to come. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers in Rod, Sara, and Jack's behalf. We truly appreciate them and you!

Update

Rod had an appointment with the doctors and a CT scan on Friday. The scans showed that his right foot is fusing well and the doctors are encouraged by what they see. The large fixator device will be removed in 2 weeks and replaced by a cast. The surgery to remove it will be a simple, outpatient procedure.

He also had a nerve conduction test on his left foot. Rod has had no feeling and minimal movement in that foot all along but doctors have been waiting to see if the nerves would repair themselves. This test showed that, as of now, the nerves are not responding. They would like to wait a full year to give those nerves a chance to heal before they make any decisions. If the nerves do not regenerate and Rod still cannot move his foot, there is a surgery they can try to implant more tendons in the area to help give him more mobility.

Until then, Rod has been working hard in his therapy, walking a little around the house, and even took a trip to St. George this weekend. He has also started a college math course and earned an "A" on his first test!
