In conversations with his family, Rod continues to express his gratitude and amazement at the outpouring of love and support. He says he does not understand why everyone is being so nice and helpful. More than anything, Rod says that he wishes he had a way to repay everyone's kindness. His mom tells him that he can do that by focusing on getting well again. So while he's working on therapy and healing, the Porter family wants to say "thank you." Thank you so much again and again for everyone's encouragement, concern, visits, meals, babysitting, prayers, donations......everything. Thank you.
Rod used to call himself Rodelda and to this day no one knows why. He has a wide variety of interests and hobbies including history (particularly the civil war), camping, Glee (this is strictly confidential:), astronomy, animals, Frank Sinatra, fishing, and playing video games. He is an avid reader of all genres but particularly enjoys fantasy, science fiction, and historical novels.
On January 28, 2012, while driving a moving truck, Rod's vehicle left the road and fell roughly 100 feet onto the train tracks below. It is a miracle that he survived and we find many more miracles as he continues on his quest toward recovery. He has already undergone multiple surgeries to repair breaks and injuries and will have many more in the weeks to come. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers in Rod, Sara, and Jack's behalf. We truly appreciate them and you!

Pushing Through
Rod has had a hard few days. After his surgery, his pain has been worse and he's had fevers off and on as his body battles the infection. Fortunately, he has been a little more comfortable today. The doctors are considering transferring Rod to a long term hospital to recover and overcome the infection before they attempt more surgery. As of now, we're not sure where or when he will be transferred.
