Rod used to call himself Rodelda and to this day no one knows why. He has a wide variety of interests and hobbies including history (particularly the civil war), camping, Glee (this is strictly confidential:), astronomy, animals, Frank Sinatra, fishing, and playing video games. He is an avid reader of all genres but particularly enjoys fantasy, science fiction, and historical novels.

On January 28, 2012, while driving a moving truck, Rod's vehicle left the road and fell roughly 100 feet onto the train tracks below. It is a miracle that he survived and we find many more miracles as he continues on his quest toward recovery. He has already undergone multiple surgeries to repair breaks and injuries and will have many more in the weeks to come. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers in Rod, Sara, and Jack's behalf. We truly appreciate them and you!

Happy Valentine's Day

On this day of love, Rod was able to spend a few hours with Sara and family before heading in for about 5 hours of surgery. They were able to repair the fractures in his arm as well as his left knee. However, when they looked at his left ankle again the doctor noticed that it appeared infected. The infection had spread fairly deeply into the tissue, reaching parts of the bone. The doctor was able to remove much of it and there is now a machine called a wound vac attached to both legs that helps by drawing infected fluids out of the wound and pulling healthy, oxygenated fluids into the wound to promote healing. We are hopeful that this technology, along with antibiotics, can eliminate these infections so that Rod can continue with his needed surgeries and physical therapy.

Yet even with all this going on, Rod remembered the flowers...
