Rod used to call himself Rodelda and to this day no one knows why. He has a wide variety of interests and hobbies including history (particularly the civil war), camping, Glee (this is strictly confidential:), astronomy, animals, Frank Sinatra, fishing, and playing video games. He is an avid reader of all genres but particularly enjoys fantasy, science fiction, and historical novels.

On January 28, 2012, while driving a moving truck, Rod's vehicle left the road and fell roughly 100 feet onto the train tracks below. It is a miracle that he survived and we find many more miracles as he continues on his quest toward recovery. He has already undergone multiple surgeries to repair breaks and injuries and will have many more in the weeks to come. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers in Rod, Sara, and Jack's behalf. We truly appreciate them and you!

On the Road Again

Rod was moved back to the LDS hospital tonight. With his pain levels improving and fevers controlled, they removed the wires from his mouth completely and transferred hospitals. They also tried to give him a smaller tracheostomy tube but were unable to remove it because the tissue tightened around it. Tomorrow morning, they are going to use a small balloon on the catheter to open the tissue more so they can slide out the old tube and insert a new, smaller one. Now that his jaw can open again, he'll be able to eat and drink more and the trach will eventually be removed altogether!
With his infection and hospital restrictions, Rod has not been able to see Jack for 3 weeks. Today during the transfer, Sara and Jack met Rod outside and he was able to see him for a few minutes. It was a short but sweet visit.
