Rod used to call himself Rodelda and to this day no one knows why. He has a wide variety of interests and hobbies including history (particularly the civil war), camping, Glee (this is strictly confidential:), astronomy, animals, Frank Sinatra, fishing, and playing video games. He is an avid reader of all genres but particularly enjoys fantasy, science fiction, and historical novels.

On January 28, 2012, while driving a moving truck, Rod's vehicle left the road and fell roughly 100 feet onto the train tracks below. It is a miracle that he survived and we find many more miracles as he continues on his quest toward recovery. He has already undergone multiple surgeries to repair breaks and injuries and will have many more in the weeks to come. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers in Rod, Sara, and Jack's behalf. We truly appreciate them and you!

Rolling

Rod's been in a lot of pain and has had to lay still for the past few days.  The slightest movement to the bed or his legs has caused some of the worst pain he's had.  Today he needed be moved several times.  They rolled him to his right and they rolled him to his left.  When they roll him, the nurses don't just move him a little, they completely rotate him onto his side, with his legs stacked on top of each other.  The great accomplishment of the day was that he was able to get through these moves with less pain.

It's days like today that help Rod see that he's improving and moving forward.

(On Rod's right foot you can see why movement is so painful.  He has a box of things holding his foot together.  The box and dressing is very heavy and takes a lot of the control of his right leg away.)
