Rod used to call himself Rodelda and to this day no one knows why. He has a wide variety of interests and hobbies including history (particularly the civil war), camping, Glee (this is strictly confidential:), astronomy, animals, Frank Sinatra, fishing, and playing video games. He is an avid reader of all genres but particularly enjoys fantasy, science fiction, and historical novels.

On January 28, 2012, while driving a moving truck, Rod's vehicle left the road and fell roughly 100 feet onto the train tracks below. It is a miracle that he survived and we find many more miracles as he continues on his quest toward recovery. He has already undergone multiple surgeries to repair breaks and injuries and will have many more in the weeks to come. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers in Rod, Sara, and Jack's behalf. We truly appreciate them and you!

Easter fun and then some!

Rod has been catching up on some celebration time. Since he couldn't eat on his birthday (it was 5 days after the accident) the family had saved some of his birthday cake and Rod and Stef ate their cake together today!

Orchard Cove had their facility Easter egg hunt today and had eggs hidden throughout the hallways for the residents to find. However, Rod and Sara seemed to be the only ones hunting. They decided to move a few of the eggs off of the floor and onto the handrails so it would be easier for their elderly neighbors to reach, but there were still no takers. I don't know what would have happened to all those eggs if Rod hadn't been there. They might have stayed there till Christmas.

The family received a copy of an x-ray of Rod's right thigh bone and knee. Looking at this picture gives a better understanding of the kind of injury and surgery that Rod has been through. The heavy concentration of pins at the top of the x-ray is Rod's knee and the thick rod is holding together his femur or thigh bone.
