After 81 days in the hospital, Rod has finally come home. It was a very busy day trying to get adjusted. With all the hospital food he's eaten over the last few weeks, the first thing Rod wanted to do was stop at McDonalds on the way home.
Once lunch was over, he was busy exploring the house and figuring out how to maneuver his wheelchair. Fortunately, he was able to make it up the ramp and fit through all the doorways. He also had many visits and evaluations from the home health care team that will be providing his care. Even his physical therapy will be done at home!
Probably the best part about being home was being with his family. He was able to feed Jack, watch Jack take a bath, and be a part of the daily routines that he has missed. Later in the evening Rod, Sara and Jack even took a walk outside in the neighborhood. There will still be some work to do and some adjusting, but we're all happy to have Rod home.
Since Rod's condition is no longer changing frequently and things will now be more routine, we will not be posting as often. We will keep everyone posted on major developments and important news but will probably not be posting much more than weekly. Thank you so much everyone for your continued support and prayers. It really has made all the difference.
This is fantastic news!!! We are so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteWe have appreciated your updates very much, Becca. And we're so happy Rod is well enough to be home. He's certainly a miracle guy, and will continue to make progress. God bless you, Rod, that your life will be meaningful and joyful, as you climb this mountain. You really can do hard things!
