In the meantime, Rod's been busy doing lots of sleeping, visiting, and yes, more physical therapy. Here are some pictures of Rod with one of his favorite nurses, with his parents, and with the kids, Stef, and me.
Rod used to call himself Rodelda and to this day no one knows why. He has a wide variety of interests and hobbies including history (particularly the civil war), camping, Glee (this is strictly confidential:), astronomy, animals, Frank Sinatra, fishing, and playing video games. He is an avid reader of all genres but particularly enjoys fantasy, science fiction, and historical novels.
On January 28, 2012, while driving a moving truck, Rod's vehicle left the road and fell roughly 100 feet onto the train tracks below. It is a miracle that he survived and we find many more miracles as he continues on his quest toward recovery. He has already undergone multiple surgeries to repair breaks and injuries and will have many more in the weeks to come. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers in Rod, Sara, and Jack's behalf. We truly appreciate them and you!

The Ankle Bone's Connected to the Shin Bone...again
Rod is slowly being pieced back together again. He went into surgery this morning where the doctor was able to repair an ankle bone that had been shattered into many pieces. Due to complications with the skin around his ankle, they were not able to reach some areas and fix all that they wanted to so his movement may be more restricted on that foot. Doctors also discovered an infection in Rod's right shin bone which makes surgery on that leg impossible until it clears up. He is scheduled for more surgery on Tuesday to fix his left knee and shin bone as well as his right arm. They switched pain medications today which has done much better keeping Rod comfortable.

So glad to hear that he is doing well. We were in SLC yesterday but Mom said that since he was in surgery it was not a good idea to go visit him. John and I were sorry to miss out on a visit with him. Thanks so much for the up dates. This was a GREAT idea and so fun to see that smile on Rod's face again!
ReplyDeleteWe are "watching" your progress Rod. It is nice to see you smile and awesome to see you giving us all the thumbs up. We continue to pray for your recovery.
