To visit Rod, one cannot help but notice how broken his body seems. He has one usable appendage (left arm) with which to help himself. His mouth and legs are full of pins, plates, wires, and rods. And yet the other thing that can not go without notice is how his spirit remains intact. He is still the same Rod with the same interests, the same quirks, and the same big heart. If one could x-ray his determination and courage, it would be unbroken. He sees all the love, support, and positive things that have resulted from his accident. It is because of these good things, that when asked if he would erase the accident if he could, he says no. He wouldn't change a thing.
Rod used to call himself Rodelda and to this day no one knows why. He has a wide variety of interests and hobbies including history (particularly the civil war), camping, Glee (this is strictly confidential:), astronomy, animals, Frank Sinatra, fishing, and playing video games. He is an avid reader of all genres but particularly enjoys fantasy, science fiction, and historical novels.
On January 28, 2012, while driving a moving truck, Rod's vehicle left the road and fell roughly 100 feet onto the train tracks below. It is a miracle that he survived and we find many more miracles as he continues on his quest toward recovery. He has already undergone multiple surgeries to repair breaks and injuries and will have many more in the weeks to come. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers in Rod, Sara, and Jack's behalf. We truly appreciate them and you!
