Rod used to call himself Rodelda and to this day no one knows why. He has a wide variety of interests and hobbies including history (particularly the civil war), camping, Glee (this is strictly confidential:), astronomy, animals, Frank Sinatra, fishing, and playing video games. He is an avid reader of all genres but particularly enjoys fantasy, science fiction, and historical novels.

On January 28, 2012, while driving a moving truck, Rod's vehicle left the road and fell roughly 100 feet onto the train tracks below. It is a miracle that he survived and we find many more miracles as he continues on his quest toward recovery. He has already undergone multiple surgeries to repair breaks and injuries and will have many more in the weeks to come. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers in Rod, Sara, and Jack's behalf. We truly appreciate them and you!

Exploring

For the first time in 31 days, Rod was able to go outside. It wasn't for long, but he loved it. His mom says she hasn't seen him smile that big in a long time. He was also able to meet all the new doctors and therapists that he will be working with at LDS. They took him on a tour of the unit and showed him the therapy room. The physical therapist was particularly impressed at how much strength and determination Rod had. It was a very encouraging day.
