Rod used to call himself Rodelda and to this day no one knows why. He has a wide variety of interests and hobbies including history (particularly the civil war), camping, Glee (this is strictly confidential:), astronomy, animals, Frank Sinatra, fishing, and playing video games. He is an avid reader of all genres but particularly enjoys fantasy, science fiction, and historical novels.

On January 28, 2012, while driving a moving truck, Rod's vehicle left the road and fell roughly 100 feet onto the train tracks below. It is a miracle that he survived and we find many more miracles as he continues on his quest toward recovery. He has already undergone multiple surgeries to repair breaks and injuries and will have many more in the weeks to come. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers in Rod, Sara, and Jack's behalf. We truly appreciate them and you!

Moving On

Two nights ago, Rod's left leg was particularly bothersome. The orthopedic doctors came in, cleaned his leg, and evaluated the structure and movement to see if he had an infection or if the bones had moved out of place. Fortunately, everything seemed to be right where it should be and there were no signs of infections! The next day, Rod was able to rest and sleep in more comfort. He was excited to be able to visit with Jack again, especially when Jack babbled something that sounded a lot like "Hi Daddy!"

Today he has moved out of the ICU onto the intermediate care floor! His heart rate has finally slowed to a more normal range, he's starting physical therapy on his arm, and he's learning to suck through his teeth! We will miss some of the nurses in the ICU and appreciate all the staff's help and concern but we are excited that he is improving so quickly.
