Rod used to call himself Rodelda and to this day no one knows why. He has a wide variety of interests and hobbies including history (particularly the civil war), camping, Glee (this is strictly confidential:), astronomy, animals, Frank Sinatra, fishing, and playing video games. He is an avid reader of all genres but particularly enjoys fantasy, science fiction, and historical novels.

On January 28, 2012, while driving a moving truck, Rod's vehicle left the road and fell roughly 100 feet onto the train tracks below. It is a miracle that he survived and we find many more miracles as he continues on his quest toward recovery. He has already undergone multiple surgeries to repair breaks and injuries and will have many more in the weeks to come. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers in Rod, Sara, and Jack's behalf. We truly appreciate them and you!

A Quiet Day

With his jaw surgery out of the way, Rod spent a quiet night resting and visiting with his dad. Today, between sleeping and doing physical therapy, he was able to visit with his immediate family and his grandma, who spent a few hours talking with him. Scott was able to come this evening and will be keeping Rod company through the night.

Since he can't speak or open his mouth, Rod has developed a clicking sound in order to get others attention. Rod really liked his nurse today, and the two began to joke around and communicate in a native African "clicking" language. Who knew Rod was bilingual?

Rod's next surgeries will again involve his legs but due to the swelling, nothing is scheduled at this point. Until we hear otherwise, he should have a few quiet days to rest and recuperate. With his schedule settling down, I may not post everyday with updates unless his condition changes or unless there is progress to report. We have been delighted with the speed of his recovery so far. Please continue to send your prayers and support. It has made all the difference for Rod and the family. Thank you so much.
